VERITAS NetBackup Client, developed by VERITAS Software, Inc., is the endpoint agent for the NetBackup data protection platform. Installed on servers and workstations, it safeguards file systems and applications with policy-driven backups and fast, reliable restores, all centrally managed by a NetBackup master server.

Key capabilities:

  • Broad platform support, including Windows and popular Linux/UNIX distributions.
  • Full, incremental, and differential backups with scheduling and bandwidth controls.
  • Application-consistent protection using platform-native tools (such as Microsoft VSS) and integration with application agents for databases and other enterprise workloads.
  • Optional client-side deduplication and compression to reduce network usage and storage consumption.
  • Secure data movement with authentication and encryption in transit; supports encrypted backups at rest when configured on the NetBackup server side.
  • Flexible restores—ranging from single files to entire volumes—via graphical or command-line tools.
  • Centralized policy management, logging, and reporting through the NetBackup console.

Designed for enterprise-scale environments, VERITAS NetBackup Client streamlines data protection across heterogeneous systems while helping meet performance, security, and compliance requirements.
